Do I have to register to attend the Virtual Happy Hours?

Yes - when you register for VetFest, you will have the option to advise what groups you are a member of and any group happy hours you may wish to attend*. You will then receive further information and an invitation which will outline the happy hour details (time, date, plus any planned activities, guests or requirements).
*not all groups will hold a virtual happy hour event

How does Virtual Happy Hour work?

These will take place via Zoom! Zoom is a web-based video conferencing tool with a local, desktop client and a mobile app that allows users to meet online, with audio and video. Once you have opted in for your chosen happy hour when you register, you will receive an invitation to your happy hour/s with a link to a Zoom meeting. To participate in the Zoom meeting, you will need:

  • Zoom application downloaded onto your device
  • A webcam and microphone enabled device (computers/laptops or tablets are optimal).
  • A decent, stable internet connection
  • For a guide on how to set up and use Zoom for the first time, please click here.

Can I move between Virtual Happy Hours? E.g start at Small Animals, and switch to Cattle during the hour? Or do I need to register for a particular Happy Hour and stay there?

We recommend that you participate in one happy hour per evening.  This way you can be included in any special or planned activities and participate fully with your peers in that group. Different happy hours will be spread out across the three weeks of VetFest to minimise any clashes.
