Professional Bio
Angela Willemsen is a final year PhD student from the School of Public Health, University of Queensland. She graduated as a veterinarian from UQ in 2005 and has worked in small animal practice in Brisbane, including a rotating emergency and speciality internship in 2008. Prior to working as a veterinarian, she worked as a Registered Nurse which laid the foundation for her interest in infection control. Her PhD has been investigating infection prevention and control practices in small animal veterinary practices in Australia. Along with conducting this research, she has taken the opportunity to become the first veterinary Gold Standard Hand Hygiene auditor and is a member of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control.
