Renee Willis is a veterinarian and PhD candidate; she is currently working with a research team at Murdoch University to develop a suite of animal welfare indicators to monitor and record the welfare of livestock throughout the Australian livestock export supply chain. Over the last 5 years Renee has sailed as an Australian Government Accredited Veterinarian (AAV) on long-haul and short-haul voyages with both cattle and sheep to a variety of locations across South East Asia and the Middle East. For her research, she has followed six livestock consignments from farms and pre-export facilities in Australia, on-board livestock export vessels, and through to international receival feedlot facilities and slaughterhouses.
