Sheila Laverty is a Professor of Equine Surgery at the University of Montreal, Canada. Following graduation from University College Dublin she worked in equine practices (TB racing and studfarm) in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. She completed an Equine surgery and lameness residency at the University of California Davis and is Diplomate of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS & ECVS). Her Comparative Orthopedic Research Laboratory has focused on equine joint health and disease for over 25 years. Past accomplishments include: Distinguished Alumnus University of California Davis; Honorary Fellow of International Orthopaedic Research, Institutional Pfizer Research excellence prizes; Honored Mentor American College of Veterinary Surgeons; Publications (144); Invited speaker (114 lectures); Post- graduate student training (80: Post docs, PhDs, MScs, surgery residents and interns); ACVS diplomates(17).
